The Bhimavaram compound seems to have been hospitable for cobras. We
lived there while I was 2-9 years old. At one time a cobra took up residence
in a hole 30 yards from a flower garden.
My Dad was not happy about this, and took his .22 calibre rifle to the
hole. Placing the barrel down the hole, he pulled the trigger, whereby
creating a cloud of dust and one very angry cobra, which chased my dad all
the way back to the house.
The next chapter in this saga had us bring the proverbial India snake
charmer, who played his flute, put the cobra into a basket, and took it away.
